Strut air line connection

Quick question, is it possible to remove the little connection that stays on the airline once it's removed from the strut? And if so would it be possible to put it onto a new piece of airline?

What size is the airline? Been told 4mm and 3/16? Assume either would work?

I haven't removed it on the car my self but instrumentation pneumatics must be similar and you may it easier to pull the nut back and trim the last few MM of the tubing

From memory, it looks just like a standard schrader...

Are the struts push fit too?

Not a standard schrader nor is it a PTC fitting.

Reason I'm asking is cause I'm waiting on new struts from Airrex, but in worried they won't be here in time. So I'm wanting to hook up my aftermarket air managment to the factory struts, so don't want to have to cut the factory airlines or fittings.

I knew I had air line parts in my 'parts bin' and got this out to photo for you.

If this is the connection you're referring to, then yes it can be reused assuming it's going on the same outside dia air line. +++

That's the very thing! I assume that when its tightened it also release a non return valve in the strut? The same valve that holds air in the strut when the line is removed? You don't happen to know what size the line is by chance?

For future reference I've found out they're called Voss fittings, and on the A8 they're 4mm +++

Good to know. I found this diagram of the above photo.

Also the writing on the Air Line is "Voss DIN 73378 4x1 PA12 PHL A1 A5381 EPM 559 R2"

So can assume then that when the connection is tightened in, that the "collet" does in fact open a valve allowing air to flow?
