VAGCOM cable loan inEssex

Hello all,

Got my W12 and would like to give it the once over with a VAGCOM. I bought an ebay cable and the damn thing doesn't work.

I can read module 01 for the engine but nothing else, any other modules give an error code "No response from controller"

Does anyone in the Essex area have a working VAGCOM cable I could borrow for a day for some beer tokens?

Thanks

Nick

Apologies. Only just seen this. I did a flier to Stansted today.
I could have brought my cable down if I'd known. Bit too far to drive down for a loan, but on the back of something else would have been possible.
I have noticed that when you posted I had already set off.

Bitten the bullet and ordered a proper cable.

I do/Have access to one. I'm Southend and the cable lives in Chelmsford.

Don't bother with a cheap ebay one. I've got one in Chelmsford should you need it in the meantime

For future reference, the forum has a vagcom register: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?p=104003

Did you buy ~£5 cable or ~£25 cable on e-bay. £5 cables are KKL only and on newer CAN cars will only read engine as the rest of control units don't talk KKL any more but ECU does to ensure compliance with OBD emission rules. ~£25 cables work fine on CAN cars as well.

Got my new cable and it all reads fine, got a few faults to work through but nothing major.

Oh and she now sits 15mm and 10mm lower ;)
