2006 A6 C6 2.7 Quattro Avant Auto Project
I had plans for this car. It was going to head to Eaglescliffe and become parts on a shelf, but it keeps looking at me from the driveway and I'm not sure I can do that to it without seeing if anyone wants it first.
Atlas Grey body, black leather interior. 185K miles. 12 months MOT. Service history up to 150K. Drives well. Lovely in fact. Pulls nicely, and very comfy. Gearchanges are smooth, drives and brakes straight. HPI clear.
5 faults to note: 1) Air suspension works perfectly, but rear end sags down when parked, so suspect leak from rear struts or pipe fittings. Pumps up promptly when engine started. Adjusts on demand from the MMI. 2) Rear wiper has a mind of its own, but basically responds to the stalk 3) Rear offside wheel arch has been pushed in slightly, but no paint damage so may pull out. Doesn't rub. 4) Fuel gauge shows an open circuit and reads empty on the dash. 5) Some paint damage to rear bumper. I'd need 3.5K to make it worth selling on. Trade sale, but any trial welcomed prior to purchase. IT |
Now on ebay, no reserve.... Ended up running it for the last 6 months, handy car to have, but swamped with cars so its going too.....
Rear wiper and fuel gauge sorted, wheel arch pulled out ok..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1322379217...84.m1555.l2649 |
If only it was 3.0TDI, I would have been very interested :) High mileage and couple of niggles mean it will be pretty cheap and those problems do not put me off if it's at the right price. S line would be preferred and while I do not like the wheels they could be easily swapped at cost but I don't think I can get over it being 2.7 although there might be advantage as I know lot of 3.0TDI's 2004-2007 suffered from injector failures and I don't know if 2.7 were affected as well as i was never interested in 2.7 so there might be advantage if it did not affect 2.7.
It could be just me but I always go for the biggest engine of the same design so I would not be interested in 2.4 or 2.6 when there was 2.8 or 3.7 when there was 4.2 and it also apply to 2.7 and 3.0TDI. |

I guess there must be a power difference, but I'm hard pressed to fault it really. It will probably go cheap, but I'm sooooo clogged up with cars right now, I just have to shift some hardware.... |
The power difference is massive 221HP on 3.0 and 177Hp on 2.7, that's even less that 180HP I have on my current 2.5TDI A6. It's just 10 % smaller but 24% less power and the fuel consumption is not noticeably better and it's similar story for 2.4 or 2.6 vs 2.8 or 3.7 vs 4.2 - you loose a lot more in power than you give up in displacement but not gain much in economy. But it seems it does not matter for a lot of people as the are plenty lower displacement engines around keeping customers happy. Only thing that would keep my interest in 2.7 would be if it did not suffer injector failures like 3.0 as it can probably be tuned to 240 while 3.0 can be tuned to 280 so closing a gap a little bit.
