Advice please D2 PF
1 Attachment(s)
Hello
Since my 'barge' was trashed on the car ferry, I have been lurking here and there looking for a replacement. I have been linked to this A8 D2 PF (attached VIN info) in France for €3000. Claimed 2 owners since 2010 and low mileage. Forwarded ad text reads: =============== Audi :- please see the original data from the Audi log book. First registration 9/8/1996. The original mileage :- 102, 984 Coloring purple ( looks nearly black). I am the second owner . I bought it 2010 and since have only driven approximately 100 miles around our village . Started and ran it today . No problem . ( for your info may be a little exhausted whistle). It is right hand drive, automatic transmission. Regret no radio / music instrument. There is no obvious rust etc. the body is Aluminum . Also it is covered and garages all the time. Interior grey leather . Sunshine roof, all electric windows and rear sun shine shield . etc. The car is French registered . Please remember the car is sold ‘As Is’. =================== What should I look for? Thanks in advance |
Wow Amethyst Grey - thats a gorgeous colour. I've only ever seen one of those before. An anthracite grey with a purple metallic or pearl in it.
4.2 4-speed so a fairly robust drivetrain. I'm sure Ian can run the VIN to get the full spec. Look for timing belt history, water ingress issues, creaky suspension or brakes, rotten subframes (bad in the UK because of salted roads). Body panels are increasingly hard to get hold of. |
Hi Chris, good to see you back+++
It might be that's this is meant to be as it doesn't seem to have its infotainment system and I guess you have retained the Pioneer AVIC system you had on the previous car? |
Built May 30 1995
4.2 Q. Not a sport model. Electric front seats, drivers with memory Heated seats front and rear Rear Blinds Rear Seat lumbar and electric headrest Headlamp wash Ski hatch Cd Changer Cruise Control Electric steering column No Bose No servotronic No tow bar No solar roof 17" wheels. Electric radio aerial (unlikely it still works, but you never know!) With tiptronic Feels overpriced to me. Its an 'A', and not even a sport. Its condition would have to be stunning to fetch that sort of money imo. Its rare, but I think of all the D2's out there, its probably one of the least sought after variants. Its a 1995 model, so will be factory prewired for solar roof and towbar interestingly enough. IT |
Many thanks for useful comments. The 'friend' who is selling 'on behalf of the owner' has not been able to give info on the French Controle Technique (MoT) or its French or UK registration and pictures are thin.
Another one awaits. Thanks again gents |
