Apparently this dealership wants over $29,000 USD for a S8!?!
Found this post and I want to know what drugs they are on where they think it's worth that much?!

Nice but...
Looks rather like mine, except for the seats, which let it down a bit ;) - I didn't know Alcantara could wear that badly.
Nice (original looking, not refurbed?) diamond cut FE wheels, and good condition bodywork, but I agree, it's very overpriced given the state of the seats, the non-standard audio head unit, and the mileage. |
The one that 4StarClassics has for sale is a good deal by comparison, and that's saying something.
The advert on the 503 website has contradictory information, the mileage on the clock is 214,044 km, which equates to 133k miles, not 151k (unusual to bump the mileage up), the RARE options (that I can find) are aftermarket air suspension, aftermarket head unit and after market speakers, so not something anyone interested in a pure S8 would want or even consider parting big money for. Other oddities is why would you go to the expense to strip the car back to bare metal, but not bother spending any money on refurbishing the interior. There is also signs of scratches on the paintwork, so why wasn't it protected, and what is going on with the paintwork around the ASF logo at the base of the B-pillar? Perhaps the biggest WTF moment is why have "There was absolutely no damage or collision" in the advert? If it had 100k less miles (with condition to match throughout) and was an unmolested example with original parts, would it still be worth $29k? |
There were no travelpilot DX maps available for the USA during the D2 times, so Audi couldn't put the 5" colour sat nav in.
The standard kit over there was a tape deck with cd player, which was a bit naff. I suspect it is probably more widely accepted that its replaced with something else early on in its life than over here. Homelink, alcantara pack, enhanced leather, blinds etc etc Sunroof control panel is protruding at the back, which is an odd oversight. For the 2 seconds it should take to pop it back in.... And yes, alcantara in the D2 does bobble badly. They seemed to fix it after that, but the D2's do suffer. Shame as i actually prefer the feel of it to the leather I think I'm getting old, but I don't see the appeal of fitting air systems and slamming cars to the ground. Seems uncomfortable and complex to fix if it goes wrong. I presume its used loads of boot space too, as we have no photos of that.... So yeah, the price seems super crazy to me too. |

I agree with you about the aftermarket suspension, in the sense that it is uncomfortable. That's my opinion anyway having experienced it with the S8 and a big reason for reverting it back to normal air suspension. Not just uncomfortable, but it behaved differently to my D2, and on B roads that I could drive at 50mph, I was having to brake in places down to 30mph in the S8 (and that was with the height being set to a 'normal' stance). In my opinion nothing makes sense about this car to be worth over $29,000
