Buzzing noise in dash area

I recently had this annoying buzzing noise from behind the dash start and its getting worse now. Sometimes you can switch off the engine etc and start again and it doesn't happen.
It will do the buzzing noise with only the ignition on (ie no engine) so i'm pretty sure it not engine related.
I can also hear a gurgling noise as well just before the buzzing starts - is there a pump or something behind the drivers dash area to do with the heating etc?

Buzzing Noise - You may well be hearing one of your vent flap motors whirring away. They occasionally break one of the plastic teath on the vent flaps and there whirr away happily awaiting the stop signal which is never coming as the vent flap isn't moving. There are a few threads on here about the problem. Try searching 'vent flaps'.

Gurgling - The AC evaps have a tray inside the car that drains into the transmission tunnel. If they are blocked you get wet feet eventually and wet carpets almost certainly!. How to fix it is here.

Aha - that would explain what I'm hearing.

Guess I need to get in under the dash to find which motor it is now then

A proper VCDS (VagCom) lead and soft ware will allow you to activate each motor individually so you can tell when the noise changes.
