Webasto wiring.

I pulled down my webasto this weekend when i changed timing belt and thermostat since it didn't work. And this is what greeted me when i took of the control unit lid:

And i have found a guy @ ebay that sells new aftermarket boards. But they don't support can-bus. So my general question is if my heater is bus activated? It's and "original" webasto installed at the dealer and is controlled thru the MID.
Here's the control board im talking about getting:

Webasto wasnt a D2 option in the UK, so we might not have much in the way of answers for you. Still, really interesting stuff from my perspective... +++

Have you tried searching e-bay.de for a genuine second hand unit? Sorry, can't comment on those replacement boards.

Yeah i have tried. But i can only find used ones, and i'm not that keen about buying a used circuit board. The fried board i have now is HELLA as you can see, so i got our parts dude @ work to contact Hella-Norway. So let's hope they still carry them.

Well guy's, i got some good news for those of you with "original" Webasto Thermo Top Z/C heaters with fried controllers. The aftermarket boards work like a charm! :D The only thing you have to sacrifice is the OBD diagnostic option since you have to remove the wire from PIN2 on the heater. But no worries, the aftermarket board (at least the one i bought) have a beep error function, just put 12V on PIN2 and read them out.

This is how it all looks like:

Hi, did fit this controller to facelift? I have the same problem with fried board. But not sure is will work with A/C and webasto remote controler?

Exerqtor 22nd January 2013 09:47 AM

Yeah it works like it should now. But the diagnostic thru vagcom/obd don't work since the new controller has blink code diagnostics.

nakata 23rd January 2013 09:26 AM

Thank you. Any chance to make diagnostics in future?

No i doubt that since this is a aftermarket board. Made to substitute the universal Webasto's and not the brand specific that's in our Audi's and BMW's.

But the diagnostic's function on this board is more than good enough. Just have to unscrew the right fog light and bezel. Then remove the lid on the webasto so that you can see the board. And then just short one of the wires. (Might be that the fould codes is read be beep code, and in that case it's not needed to reomve to lid. And just listen to the sound).

And another thing is that the guy i bought if from has really good communication if you have some kind of problem :)
