Detach transmission cable
 

Can someone tell he how to detach the transmission cable from the gearbox please....once that is out I am very close to pulling engine/gearbox out....

Where the cable was attach to the transmission it is very tight as the passenger downpipe gets it the way...the last thing I wanted to do was try to get downpipe off...so instead I went from the top and removed the centre console and disconnected the cable from the gear stick....

The outer cable sits into a bracket which is held onto the transmission case with two bolts. Just unbolt the bracket.

The inner is a ball/socket setup and you'll need to use something like a long handle trim tool like this...

Then you can just pop the inner cable off the ball which is part of the switch on the transmission.
