Trim colour combinations
Does anyone know when 'Platinum' came in for the D2 leatehr and what paint colours it was offered with? I'm trying to get a platinum door insert from fleabay and the seller doesn't know the colour code, but describes it as 'grey'. The paint is 2002- SANTORIN BLUE PEARL LZ5K (same as David's8 I think).

Well my PF (late 98) S8 has Platinum interior with Agate Grey paint, if that helps.
Some of the trim cards that I've had off are labelled with manufacturing dates a long way before that! |
Yes, that helps - thanks. I have a feeling that the blue cars usually came with cream or grey (not platinum) interiors. but if I get enough response, then I'll know.

The card "should" have a manufacturers label on it somewhere which will identify the colour - I think it will say PLAT or PLATIN pretty clearly.

Platinum is the light grey.
Swing is the dark grey. Swing was far more prevalent pre 2001, with Platinum being more common afterwards - but neither were exclusive at the time. Santorin blue was more likely to have a cream (Jive) interior to be honest, but I suppose Swing is possible. I would go for double checking a piece of interior trim - Something somewhere will have either swing or platin marked on it, usually a sticker. |
My Ming blue car came with blue int.
The interior colour code is on the sticker in the spare wheel well and service book +++ |

Thanks Ian
The trouble is, this is just the insert on the interior door handle where your fingers go to pull the door closed. My driver's one is scratched and this is what's for sale http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A8-D2...item3a78faefb1 But I think it's not platinum, so I'll give it a miss |
that one is for the rear door, are they the same?
It looks pretty scratched already too! |
Mine is Santorin Blue with the platinum interior.
