Guy, I maybe jumping to conclusions, but if you're considering buying the car listed on eBay item number 150939534455 and the registration number happens to be YB08 DXA, please take double, no quadruple, care.

Guy,
Long time no speak, I must pull my finger out and call you. Have you researched and found an installer for the FSI engine ?, from what I understand there aren't too many options for an engine of this type due to the cooling requirements of the injectors as they sit in the combution chamber |

Why is this one to 'check' or can't you divulge ? |
If you have not researched yet then do research for LPGing FSI. It will be more complicated and costly then regular LPG. It replaces fuel injectors and uses liquid gas injection directly in combustion chamber. So you also loose possibiulity to drive on petrol if you run out of LPG. Might be worth considering diesel.

You can't reliably LPG an FSi car mate...
Damn that is a fackin good price for a W12. I've just brought another A8 D3 today. |
Guy, I admire your dedication and for wanting to stay in a petrol powered car. However, I would have thought a 3.0 TDI quattro would suit your chauffeuring business better. Just my 0.02.
|
Still got my D3 4.2 on LPG with Radar cruise etc etc..... Cheaper to run than a 3.0 Tdi and sounds way better...
Easier to facelift this frontend than LPG an FSI... ;) |
Thanks every one for your input,
i have reserched FSI LPG and a company i spoke to said they can do a full convertion and it runs 80% lpg and 20% petrol its a blend rather than fully one or the other the reason for this is to stop the injectors over heating but it still provides a good return in savings. TDI Amar im affrade the real world mpg of the 3.0L quattro is around top of 38-45 mpg and a 4.2 on lpg will bring back in savings around 42 mpg i much prefer the smoothness of the 4.2 petrol the 3.0L tdi is not all that quiet especially if doing city driving at low speeds ...on the motorway its fine but when most of my work is at low speeds people really do comment on how quiet the W12 is and id like to keep to the same standards of service mpg i can live with anything from 35 onwards +++ after all what do we expect from a large barge like the 8. IT ? is that the duck egg blue ish one that we spoke about a while back ? oh also the car must be BLACK Sutherland ... thanks you for pointing that out i will stay clear of that, but its not the car im looking at. im looking at a LWB Black 4.2 at the moment and trying to contact the seller to arrange a viewing i would px this car no problem for the right one. Black LWB Petrol Mr Godfrey how the devil are you i have tryed to contact you a couple of times .... can i have your 2p worth from your experience on lpg with the d3 you and your father in law ? what do you get mpg wise in terms of savings over all ? thanks every one +++ |

With a non FSI 4.2 engine running 100% LPG most of the time I see an average on my DIS of around 23 / 24. Factor in the cost of gas being virtually 50% the cost of unleaded in most cases and you're above 45 MPG equivalent. I've no experience of how well or badly the FSI's convert to gas, but the significant lack of any for sale second hand must speak volumes I guess. I have a search on Ebay for anything Vw/Audi thats gas converted and I cant recall ever seeing anything FSI on there come to think about it. I agree about the 3.0d. Mine was a lovely example, but there was no getting away from that awful noise from under the hood. If you love black, the W12 and everything about it - Why the heck not just get that one converted... It'll scrape 35 MPG+ equivalent surely. |
