Sat Nav problems
2 Attachment(s)
Hi Guys ,
i cant seem to get the satnav to work , i can input a destination ok but then when i set off nothing happems apart from the screen saying "destination" and showing an arrow which changes direction on the screen . when i select route it shows nothing with any relevance to where i am , it looks like it thinks i'm in scotland or something I also get a warning saying "Position is located outside of the digitised road network" occasionally the screen goes a bit mad like in the photo . I have a disc inserted which i have also attached a photo of , any ideas anyone Cheers Dave +++ |
Aerial failed maybe? What does it show as your current position and how many satellites is it picking up?

Done it ,
definitely looks like a GPS arial issue , not picking up any satellite's , so it looks like i'm in for a replacement , can anyone tell me if the disc i have is the most up to date for that system , cheers Dave |
Found the manual?
What system is it? Disc looks like a standard Blaupunkt Tele-Atlas non-DX disc. The very last version of that is the "2007 Final Edition" which is 2 disks IIRC (England & Wales, Scotland & NI). You can buy a new one for about £80 http://www.bluespot.co.uk/car-audio.aspx/map-cdrom-uk Adrian E on here is good at supplying backups. ;) I could probably do one of Disk 1 at a push but don't have a non-DX system any more to check it on before posting. |
My cheap, quick and effective aerial fix here: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthrea...1510#post21510

When my PF GPS aerial failed I "plumbed" the cheapo replacement in to the wiring at the aerial connector in the boot lid via a rather circuitous route along the struts that was not visible externally.
The cable I hid in the seal around the boot lid and actually placed the aerial externally at the very base of the rear screen. Good signal.+++ It was immediately in front of the OEM aerial, but much smaller and sitting on the black glass edge, so was not visible at all unless you stood alongside the car and looked down between the front of the boot lid and the rear screen. The connector in the boot lid, for the fly lead to the OEM aerial, was of a type that is no longer used for "standard" GPS aerials, so I cut the cable and fitted an extra M/F junction in so that it could be used either with "modern" leads or just replugged back to the OEM type. PS This was some years ago, possibly before A8parts were in business (certainly before I knew of them!) and a new OEM aerial was well over £200, nowadays I'd probably go to them for a "used" OEM aerial. |
