White smoke on tickover
Evening, just after some views on the below.
Test drove an A8 last week 4.2 petrol lpg d3, on tickover after a test drive engine at normal operating temperature there was white smoke coming out of both exhausts. Would this be cause for concern? could this be related to the lpg system? |
Pretty sure mine took quite a while to stop the white smoke, no LPG and didn't lose coolant, so could just be the exhausts taking a long time to get up to temperature.
|
Has it been stood up for a while?
It could be condensation or water in the exhaust pipes burning off. was the smoke constant amount? How was the coolant level? |
more than likely condensation in the exhaust on start up.
Also bear in mind that on start up the engine will run rich until up to operating temps (ie the choke is on) |

The vehicle had already been driven upto operating temperature (on an A road) , stopped for about 15 minutes then driven for about 5 minutes. The smoke was a constant amount, didnt get any worse and the coolant hadnt moved. |
