Calipers
Does anyone know if my 2001 S8 has Brembo brakes? I was going to get these Brembo covers for the calipers but not if there not actully Brembo http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4-Pcs-Brake-Ca...3A1%7C294%3A50
Alternatvley I am going to paint them in red, anyone done this. Guide/tips? Hope to do it on the weekend. |
Singh,
I think you should already have Brembos. A photo of the wheel will confirm. I doubt you would have the Girling's although there was an alternative made by Teves. If you have them the chavvy Brembo covers won't fit. +++ |
Girlings, teeves!?
Thanks, you really think they look chavvy? I ordered some decals to put on them after I have painted them red seing as they are real Brembos. My girlfriends dad had a new Range Rover Supercharged thingi with red calipers and Brembo on them, looked amazing. (edit: they were obiously the real deal from factory). |
Real Red Brembos look the Mutts. Plastic covers that look like plastic covers............
|
Ahh I see, you rekon I can pull it off with the red paint then and chepo stickers though!? :D

I feel a bet coming on LOL :D
Just remember the recent thread about not painting any mating faces as it has caused others problems +++ |

Looks like we have all had busy S8 filled days. (Just looked at James and Mikes threads) So thought I would add mine to.
I Looked at my calipers after posting this thread and there was deffently a Brembo thingi majigi on them so that was good enough for me, ordered myself some decals from eBay and set about painting the calipers in red... http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1243105090 Then I went ahead and put the Brembo decals on. http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1243105089 I'm really happy with them, took me pretty much all day, well I was distracted for a few hours by my dads work new toy A brand spanking new M3! If anyone is attempting to do this, heres a few usefull tips: Clean with wirewool, I also clayed. Nick your sister/girlfriend/mothers nail varnish brush for the little nooks and crannies. Use a soft brush. Dont worry if after the first coat it isn't looking perfect, it will look the muts after the second/third coat. Keep little kids away! My little couson (4) thought it he would be nice and help me but he layered the caliper and himself in too much paint and although it doesn't bother me much its would make a prefectionist like mkoneman cringe. http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1243105089 |

Thanks Mike, I sure hope mine looks anywhere near as good as yours, I am yet to detail the front bumper, had so many assignments to hand in as its coming to the end of term I haven't found the time.
Edit: Infact is it just me or can you tell the diffrence between the bonnet and bumper in shine? It has been waxed about a month a go, but not 'detailed' Edit 2: Just ordered some duragloss shampoo, anyone used it? I hear its the dogs. |
