ESP Long Press

Not sure why I did but I did and this where I'm at.

I turned my ESP off, pressed the button for about 10 seconds and the light went off.

That was 2 days ago and I've not driven a car since.
Drove it today and pressed the ESP button to see if the light would came on and it did not.

I have no ESP light on my dash.

What did I just do?
What does this mean?

Pretty sure it should reset when you restart the car.. Try holding it in for 10 seconds again.

ScottD3 5th September 2014 09:52 AM

Done that nothing.

Can you turn ESP off with you got brake pad warning on?

Look at ABS on VCDS, maybe it says : ESP button stuck - and you can clear the fault codes.

PsYcHe 5th September 2014 10:05 AM

Is it the brake pad warning, or brake system warning?

ScottD3 5th September 2014 10:10 AM

brake pad warning.
I got a dodgy sensor somewhere.
Looking at that this afternoon.
The pads have less than 10% ware on them, so I know its not them.

The light is back.
WooHoo.

Took a couple of days and hours driving but it's back.

WooHoo

Hi Scott

A single, quick press deactivates the ESP. A 5 second press and hold deactivates the ESP and the ASR (traction control). I have done it a few times, but never had any issues with it coming back on. They recommend turning all those gizmos off when you want a screaming take-off from a standing start. Didn't appear to make much difference to me though.
