Default I always thought those double-decker dealerships looked unsafe

Seems to be a thing at the moment - car dealers having two storeys. I wonder if it's a design flaw, or if they've exceeded the design payload.

Nothing wrong with the design. They shouldn't have put that Volvo in there

Sounds like they were tight for space and had too many cars parked on a ramp between floors that was only designed for one to drive up at a time.

Exactly. Bet no one paid attention to the designed load withstand of the ramp.

Nail on the head. The ramp would have been engineered for a short term imposed live load, not extra dead load. Somebody is for the chop.

I liked the grammatical error made in the Daily Mail's report on this news and the comments of one of the readers who spotted it:

"Everyone inside was evacuated", surely the 'building' was evacuated. Unless they were all very frightened..!

Well said. It took an Aussie to spot a glaring grammatical error. 1/10 DM.
