Help - emergency!
I can't unlock the car!
2002 S8. Wouldn't lock with the remote so locked it with the key. I can open the boot with the key, but not the doors. If I put the key in the door and turn it, you can hear a motor going in the boot, but the doors stay locked. And I'm stuck in Stranraer! Any ideas?

Have you tried to turn the key in the unlock postion and hold it for 5+ seconds? That should trigger all the windows to open..(comfort opening)

That's all a bit worrying, I always thought the key could manually open the door.
Do you have both keys for the car? Obviously you will have tried the other one if you do have it. Maybe a new battery (two needed I think) in the remote and try again! Keep us informed,  Stew

Maybe the cars battery is on its last legs, hence why the windows don't go down and why the key wont open the lock
Hope you get it sorted soon and cheaply

Do you have a second remote?
Oh just read you are in stranraer , maybe your batteries have failed ,I have a spare set of beteries you can try . I am willing to run down with them if you want Last edited by roboblob; 7th August 2011 at 12:15 PM.

I'm waiting for a breakdown man - I've got insurance so may as well see what he can do. Did a hunt around other posts and one with identical symptoms suggested that I disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and then reconnect. Hard to understand why I can open the boot and nothing else?
Too far to come down with batteries. Thanks for the offer though!

Handbook says you can resync the remote if you press the unlock button on the remote then open the car with the key within 1 min ,it does not say which lock has to be used ,not sure if it will work with the boot one.
You can always try.
