Just sent my insurers a formal complaint.

They rang me back five minutes ago to say they are going to ring round the windscreen fitters they use and find one that's familiar with an Audi A8 side glass!!!

They have an arrangement with the companies and they are contractually obliged to use them! Even though they cant bring the right part and admit they have no idea how to repair the glass for me!

I have told him I will be invoicing them for my time and any damage my car incurs as a result of the broken glass and the incompetent fitters.
He said he would ring me back after he had followed his procedure!

If I treated clients like this I would be out of business...period, if we have an issue we put it right for the client and worry about resolving the cause or fault afterwards !

These recommended deals really worry me god knows what they would do if I had to have repairs to the body! As we all know there are body shops and then there are good body shops!
I refused to used AXA's Swiftcover as they have a clause in allowing them to use recycled parts on repairs!

Anyway I'll let you know the latest when they come back to me with their well thought out solution

When some little tea leaf dried to break into my rear window, I feared this type of problem and just did it myself. I bought the right glass second hand and only paid a little more than the excess.

TBH, changing the glass wasn't too difficult, but I was following elsa, let's hope the glass man has it too.

Update on the glass saga
After many phone calls to the idiots on the customer service desk who just follow the proceedure,so much so i could almost repeat their words! I had a response from my complaint finally someone prepared to listen. He has told me to take the car to Audi and has waived my excess too.

Seems auto glass are in a right mess since closing their branches and have taken on lots of new staff recently ...end result we get a sh1te service.

I was offered good will gestures from auto glass and the insurance companies but all i want is my car sorted
So if using auto glass at the mo be aware.

Thanks for the heads up. When my windscreen cracked, I opted to pay a specialist to replace it who already worked on D2's rather than use the insurance free replacement via Autoglass. It cost me a couple of hundred pounds but the peace of mind having it done properly without damage to the car was priceless.

Who did you use Goran, for future reference?

I used Glasstech, which at the time was just one man, who had loads of experience as he did every job himself. He had the right glue, the cork thingy at the bottom of the screen, knew that a D2 aluminium body must not be moved whilst the screen sets for at least 24 hours, etc.
I was happy with the job he did. The new screen did not squeak, get misted up, or any of the other issues I have heard about when other big companies replace a screen badly.

Great news

Booked in with Audi Stafford Monday for the replacement glass!

Hopefully all done by Monday afternoon and an end to an annoying sorry saga with Autoglass!
