I've been enjoying driving my S8 around for a while now but I can't hear the engine.
As other people have replaced the rear silencer with straight pipes, I thought I'd have a go myself. 2 x 55mm Stainless lengths with a 45o bend from ebay Cheap 55mm stainless pipes I've looked at tailpipes and I would end up spending another £25 on top so I decided to use the stock tailpipe. Starting point... ![]() Starting cutting... ![]() No turning back now. ![]() ![]() Pipes ![]() They come with a flared end which slips over the stock size exhaust pipes. First pipe tack welded to the tailpipe and checking on position etc. ![]() Pipes welded up and ready to go on. I added a hanger on top which sits into the stock mounts and clamped it down. ![]() The result is a nice V8 burble. It is a little boomy inside at around 1800-2000rpm but otherwise it's not too noisy and sounds lovely ![]() The look is stock from outside. Total cost, £47 plus a couple of hours welding and cutting.
