Just for future ref, when i did my towbar electrics i pulled the cable that Audi have placed in there, cut the euro plug off the end and wired up. Much easier than wiring into the light feeds or whatever. Obviously thats for a 96 A8, not sure on the later cars having wires for stuff they don't have but my 8 looks to be wired for everything it doesn't have.

Thanks guys!

I guess its safe to take this wiring out? Since I have landed the tow hook, and dont plan on doing any towing, I may as well lose the wiring.

Should be safe to remove, just check all the bits it taps into and make sure that you don't leave any connections broken, then should be fine.

Sorry one more question.
Is that thin black wire, on the left of the 3 red wires that connect to the positive terminal, also non-standard?

Maybe I can remove that too?
