The three point safety belt we all use is the most important safety device in the modern car, followed by, interestingly, ESP. Not airbags or ABS, or what have you.
Volvo developed the seatbelt we all know and use, and allowed other manufacturers to use their idea to great effect. I understand why taxi drivers are permitted to not use theirs, but for others it is indispensable. I hate 'elf an' safety' as much as the next bloke, but when it saves the lives of those close to us, like seat belts and ESP do, it's hard to argue against such things.
