Just follow Sergey's instructions for the correct fuse to pull - it sorted mine once it'd manually searched with the car out of the garage. Mine was probably a hardware issue in the dash cluster in losing the date....

Was your's a similar problem? And you simply pulled and replaced the fuse to cure it?

If I can do it, then most people can!
what's it called in german ?

It speeds up the clock module trying to get a new time signal. You lose the trip computer settings but no other issues with pulling that fuse

tks

have tried that ...germany/france/spain ...no luck

incidentally , my comment about the BBC and their thermionic valves is wrong....the BBC world service transmitters at Antham , near Carlisle , have been privatised ; as this is who the NPL pay to get the MSF signal
broadcast I presume new kit will be purchased to continue the required service ; the range from here is a minimum of 1K Km , so not only the british isles is covered but much of western and northern europe

There's still no antenna symbol or time change, but the date is there. Might try the manual method when I get a chance.

One question though, Sergey said that after a few failed synchronisations, it 'forgets' and goes back to a normal clock. Does that mean I have to do something (perhaps on the VCDS) to get it to 'remember' that there's a radio clock?

The normal clock is pretty accurate and just keeps running.
If it loses the signal it does "try harder" to find it, the logic was posted earlier. Don't think it ever gives up once coded.

Over a week now, could yours has failed?

1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Search term to use appears to be Empfangsmodul in conjunction with model specific info

http://www.ebay.co.uk/dsc/i.html?_fr...d2+819+403b%29

One in that list comes with the OEM bracket so you'd only need the self tapper screw to mount in the original position, but they're not expensive new from TPS - bracket and screws was about £5 IIRC (probably listed the prices earlier in the thread)

There's a revised part number with an 'a' on the end which was OEM from 4D-Y-000 001 VIN but I doubt there's any practical difference

The_Laird - have you done the fuse pull to reset the clock, then advance it to just before the time Sergey has posted that it will attempt to get a signal, lock the car and leave it parked outside for a couple of hours and it should have sorted itself out.
