No CCTV there. The only clue I have is the white/light grey paint left on the wing. If I managed to find out the number plate then I can search who the registered keeper is and pay them a visit but I'm not holding out any hope. These things happen unfortunately could have been worse, it's just a damaged piece of plastic but not a nice feeling when something you've worked hard for and pay a lot of money to keep is damaged by a careless to$$er in a supermarket car park!

Sorry to hear that Ollie, it makes my blood boil that people think it's ok to just do something like that and then drive off, as others have said its not like they didn't realise they did it.

I had exactly the same thing happen to my D2 a few weeks ago, it was parked off the road on the driveway and even then someone had clearly decided to turn around in the road and scraped against my rear bumper. Most of it has polished out but I can still see some damage, and yet again I can't believe that they didn't realise they had done it, for goodness sake we are talking about the difference between trying to get around in less moves, or just reversing one more tme and applying some more lock

Do the two plastic trims on the rear bumper just pull off and then the new ones push back on with clips? I don't want to pull the remaining trim off and do even more damage if that's not the correct method of removing and refitting. Finding the two new trim pieces anywhere is proving to be tricky as well!

Hoping it's not a bumper off job

Unfortunately I think it is Ollie

The part is known as a "bumper guard" and it suggests you need to take the bumper off then undo a few clips from inside that hold the strip on

Don't think that's the right bit in the pic, the painted plastic but clips in but I can't remember about the chrome bit of it screws or clips in, at any rate yours is knackered Ollie so godhead and remove what remains of the painted bit, the clips will more then likely snap off like mine did. Then you will see how the chrome part attaches, got mine from tps in two days so it shouldn't be that bad to get

Really sorry to hear about this damage. If you're anywhere near West London, I'd be happy to try to get some of the lighter scuffs polished out.

I'm no pro, but I've worked on my own cars and I'd be happy to help if I can.

Now that im looking on the laptop its come back to me, the chrome piece is held in place by the screws and clip you can see in your photo and the painted part clips in over it, both doable with bumper on, so no need to remove for that, like i said before the plastic trim clips are tight and will likely snap off but its not an issue for you being broken already. still sucks though

Ah mate that's horrible, I'd be fuming.

Il give you my dent mans number and I have a spare rear bumper going so you can take the chrome piece on my car now and insert if you need, my rear bumper is shot so was gona stick it on eBay for peanuts.

Unsure if you want new chrome or not.

Let me know fella.

Also I know a fair few decent shops that will paint it for you 😉I can do the bumper insert no problem.

Thanks for all the guides and offers of assistance.

Looks like I'll just need a new chrome strip and body coloured strip which sits on top of that. As Del pointed out, one of the retaining clips is still in place so I can see the sort of clips I need.

Craig, that would such a great help if you could spare the bit from your other bumper and I'll certainly need the bodywork sorting out too.
