Thanks for the replies gents, makes sense now.

I haven't experienced any loss of power or disabled cruise control though!

So if I'm looking at the MAF's or TB's is there any logging I can do or tests I can perform to isolate the part at fault? I can clear the fault codes but they return so does it require any type of dealer reset that my full copy of VCDS cannot do? Reset the throttle bodies if that'll help.

My first port of call would be to get rid of that oil overheat code , I would of thought that the engine and gearbox program will not like to see that code

Yes this was a scan from just a few weeks after I purchased the car privately.

I will clear all codes and take a drive so that you can see the reoccurring codes

Any thoughts on possible fixes? The light is still very intermittent, seems to be increased frequency in wet conditions.

Thanks again

Im still suspicious of the engine oil temp signal , just think that the engines running stratagy could limit torque because it thinks engine oil is to hot and plays it safe , gearbox and abs ecms see the signal and log codes to do with load signals.
Is the oil temp signal in the level sensor in the sump ?

It's coming up for service soon so i'll replace the level sensor at the same time as the oil is dropped.

In the meantime to rule out the earlier suggestion of MAF or TB faults is there any logging I can do to ensure they're running as expected?

Thanks
