Default Which module remembers the date and time?

Because the car keeps forgetting it! It has been fine for a few weeks but has now got back into the habit of forgetting the date and time when parked up overnight. I'm going to scan it with vagcom today, see if that throws any light on the situation.

There is/was a software bug in the instrument cluster causing this.
Some years needed a coding change, some a software update.
It especially happens if the headlight switch in not in 0 or auto when the ignition is turned off (ie headlights or sidelights manually on)
I think it also happened when the indicator was left on (one side parking lights).

You legend. When it was parked up, I switched the ignition off by the button and locked the wheel with the stop button so it was all off, but I'd left the headlights on. It doesn't have auto lights.

I'll set the clock again and test it.

Thanks for your help!

TGM147; If you have VCDS, I'd be interested in seeing what hardware and software versions it says for your ECU 17 - Instruments.

My 2005 A8 has lost the time numerous times over the years and its log looks like this:

Address 17: Instruments Labels: 4E0-910-xxx-17.lbl
Part No SW: 4E0 910 950 F HW: 4E0 920 950 F
Component: KOMBIINSTR. VDO H49 0200
Revision: D03 Serial number: AUDID3DN000886
Coding: 0000418
Shop #: WSC 00028 210 01865
----------------------------------------------

Snapdragon - have you any references as to which versions needed what to fix this please? [I've already got the 0000xx8 coding that the 2005 cars need].

Regards - Julian

I do - I'm going out tonight but I'll plug it in tomorrow and get the details for you. I'm going to try and ring Audi too, basically say to them if I book the car in, can you do any software updates available to any modules in the car and see what they say.

Apologies for the late reply on this, but our details appear to be identical.

Same revision and HW/SW numbers!
