Well I swapped my motor today for the new replacement. Not many screws to get out but my god access is limited! A screwdriver with a 90 degree bend would've been handy! Even a 1/4" drive ratchet wouldn't really fit....luckily the screws aren't tight.
Did basic settings and all is good - watched the flaps move through their range I didn't change the plastic end on the motor in the end as it's attached pretty firmly to the flaps themselves and I didn't want to break anything Found another missing screw from where someone's been in there before, so will need to source a new one Took the lid off the old motor and no signs of issues - could just be the motor has got weak with age

That’s good info to know, thanks Adrian. I'm yet to do mine and may not get around to it for a few weeks as I'm between houses. At least I shall be prepared, going to Google 90 degree screwdrivers now! I wonder what I'll find..!

Access is all on the passenger side - the coolant pipes going through the bulkhead get in the way, but it's only 2 screws to remove a cover, then another 2 screws to remove the motor. Just make sure the rubber gasket is re-seated correctly
Taking the lid off the airbox means you can manually move the flaps to get the motor drive engaged without any hassle.
