Yeah, I was somewhat surprised too.
I half wanted 'exit' but I felt that, without a good understanding of the financial implications, it would've been a personal/emotional vote so I decided not to. Unfortunately I think the decision was emotionally led; most people seemed to have no idea which was the best way to vote, but picked a side and voted anyway. Right now I feel cautiously pleased; it's doing wonders for the value of my Bitcoins but I'm not sure what the long term financial implications will be for the UK economy.

Somebody will make killing on the downs and ups of stock and currency market while others will lose out big as well and many already have.
Maybe I should go to Barclays and ask if they can lend me couple million to buy their shares and hope they will bounce back after 30% drop. ![]()

(Graph source: http://www.coindesk.com/price/) The price of Bitcoin has been gradually increasing over the last month. The dip in the graph coincided with reports that it was looking likely the UK would vote to remain in the EU. The sharp upturn is the decision to leave. And all this ahead of 'reward halving' next month, which is predicted to push the price up further still.

Oh well, I predicted in another thread on this topic that 'project fear' could backfire, and it has done just that. I also predicted the fall of the Prime Minister, and that has also happened. All I need to complete my final prediction is for a General Election to be called soon, I wonder what odds the bookies would give on that?
As for the future of this Country, who knows? I suspect that after a tough period we'll be OK. Perhaps even better than OK. After all if it hadn't been for us and our Empire and our Allies there would never have been an EU in the first place. Just for the record I voted to stay with the EU. |

Was working over in Germany this week and got back in the late hours last night so didn't get to vote!
Most Europeans I have spoken to over the last few weeks (Polish, German, Italian, Dutch, French and Irish) thought that the vote would end up with us staying in the EU, but since the UK EU referendum started it has made them all think about what the EU is about and is it right for them!! I think the next few years are going to be very interesting for not just us bit for the rest of the EU community.

Not that Britain is so great that the EU can't exist without us but because (I assume) the burden of supporting the poorer nations now falls on few members (I don't know how it works to be honest, but I guess our contribution will have to be made up by the remaining members). I hear other nations have already considered leaving; it'll probably only take one or two more to leave for the EU to break up entirely. Not that it really matters, it was just a convenient political/financial arrangement after all. We're still all members of NATO, etc.

Not sure I agree with it just being just a convenient political/financial arrangement. We'll now need to wait and see - I don't think the implications of this have really been considered by most people, but our world in 5 years time will be a lot different from what it would have been if we'd stayed in.
