Good point (as always) Ainars. I did have a close look at that rubber gasket in the photo and wondered whether it would be re-usable.

Mmm the seal may be an issue. While the engine is out I can get some pics of all the stuff round the back of the throttle body and see what would have to come off.

Attempted to remove the manifold today however, after removing the vacuum hoses and electrical gubbins from the fuel rail as per service manual I just CANNOT lift the fuel rail off. I had squirted WD40 around each injector and they appear to lift fractionally when I pull the rail upwards but even with a small amount of leverage applied it will not come away. I get the feeling that the amount of force needed is close to what would damage the rail Any suggestions?

The fuel rail is in tight. Really, really tight. I think i worked my way round levering gently making progress until it came out. The injectors have rubber seals on them that are snug to say the least, and there's 8 of them clinging on

Thanks Ian, I will try and progresssively lever it up by applying more equal force all round. The injectors certainly lift a mm or so but, of course the effort is only applied to a couple at the time. I really dont want to distort a section of fuel rail!

There is a rubbery seal on the 40V intake manifold half. Doesn't seem to suffer too much from dismantling. I put mine back together and torqued down in the correct sequence and it's held nicely
