Can someone confirm that the passenger mirror tilting when reversing functionality will return back to normal after changing f125 switch?
I now have an unproved therory that reversing signal from f125 switch doesn't reach the passenger mirror properly if f125 is aging.

I can't confirm that "exactly" as I rarely use the feature. BUT.....
I don't use it largely because it's proved unreliable with the mirror losing position etc. So, just now I went out and tried it and it worked perfectly over a several cycles with the ignition on but engine not started. Cars hasn't moved for 2 days either. So the theory may be correct. Intriguing.

I can only say that when the car went into limp mode the dipping mirror stopped working at the same time and when fixing the F125 stopped the limp mode problem the dipping mirror was restored at the same time

So it looks like there is a fire and smoke logic between unreliable reversing mirror function and f125. Cheers.

The F125 - or "Multi Function Transmission Range Switch "- does indeed provide the signal to a lot of functions e.g. parking sensors, reversing lights as well as mirror function, that require to know when reverse has been selected.

I thought I would describe my acceleration issue in this thread as it is similar to Andrew's.
When I pull off in D, the throttle response seems jerky. Not smooth. It does appear to smooth out after 30mph(ish) but from standstill the acceleration seems graduated and not linear. There's no kangarooing of any sort where the car speeds up and slows down violently. It's just as though the accelerator was sticking and the acceleration goes to one level, sticks a little, then another, then another with no smooth transition in between. It's quite hard to describe accurately. I wouldn't say there is a loss of power either like Andrew was experiencing. The car seems to take off at quite a rate if I want it too but I need careful positioning on the accelerator to stop a jerky/stepped movement from 0 to 30. I checked with a general scan on VCDS and the only thing showing up for the engine is as follows: Address 01: Engine Labels: Redir Fail! Part No: 3B0 907 551 BT Component: 2.8L V6/5V G 0001 Coding: 11753 Shop #: WSC 02313 VCID: 76E38CBE520617F28A-5140 WAUZZZ4D33N002161 AUZ7Z0B2123261 2 Faults Found: 16804 - Catalyst System; Bank 1 P0420 - 35-00 - Efficiency Below Threshold 16814 - Catalyst System; Bank 2 P0430 - 35-00 - Efficiency Below Threshold I don't have VCDS at the moment (lent it to a forum member), but can do more scanning at some other time if the more mechanically inclined/experienced members think that it would benefit. I wouldn't know where to start with this. Throttle body? Accelerator Pedal? Switches? Any help appreciated..... ![]()

Maybe have a look at the throttle position sensor values in the measuring blocks and check that its linear as you press the pedal slowly? Its measured in % so I would expect gentle movements on the pedal to be visible in real time.
That said, the V8 D2s do have overly sensitive throttle pedals IMO, making it hard to pull away at any setting thats not 'Driving Miss Daisy' or 'Scalded Cat'. My V6 A4 wasn't like that, but that was manual. The V6 D2 may be programmed just the same as the V8s in that regard. Do you notice any jerkiness with small throttle applications in higher gears? |

![]() Quote:
I don't notice jerkiness when in higher gears. Everything seems OK then. It's just the setting off and the slow speeds up to about 30.

From memory any calibration issues with the throttle pot should result in a self-learn cycle if you turn the ignition on but don't touch the throttle or anything else. Can't recall how long, but 30 seconds should be adequate.
With VCDS then as per MJ's advice in measuring blocks will show similar and show if there's a component issue. Your stored faults look like knackered cats
