Webasto 4.2tdi
Hi all,
I have a 2012 4.2tdi and I can't seem to find anything at all on auxiliary heating for the D4? I am wandering if it comes with the burner as per the D3 my D3 was a 4.2tdi and I installed the pump and piping and had it coded and added the remote control.. Any help to achieve similar would be appreciated thank you. Ian |

I don't think the D4 came with a Webasto in the UK, pretty sure mine doesn't have one. I think the auxiliary heating is electrically powered!?

Hmm interesting. I found several units online readily available from Europe at quite a reasonable cost, is there any kind of guide for fitting?
I drive a lot in winter in Germany and it can get very cold (-20) in winter and I'd like to be able to warm the block and oil before starting. As well as the interior of course! |

I think Paul may be right, just had a look on my 2011 3.0TDI and no sign of a Webasto sticker anywhere under the bonnet. My old D3 had one as does the wifes Q7 4L.
More likely the bean counters decided on its omission rather than an environmentalist. Pity. |

Not as good as webasto but as Paul says - D4's have some sort of electric heater as mine blows warm air as soon as I start the car, which is nice as the 4.2tdi takes ages to get up to tempareture

In terms of a cabin heater, it's not an issue for me either as my 3.0 D4 also gives warm air very quickly. I would consider the real benefit of the webasto unit is having warm coolant circulate around the engine block. This would surely be beneficial for an engine in the long term in terms of wear.

Not a cheap retrofit, but seemingly possible...... assuming global warming isn't fast enough!?

Looks like d4 aux heater is made by eberspacher not webasto - part number 4H0265081H for the heater itself, but then also would need the control unit, dosing pump and fuel lines, some wiring and remote.

I found this thread on an A7 install, the last post is the most interesting.
http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/a.../t-171491.html Estimates at £1,400 and ~20 hours to install!? Think I'll skip this one for now |

Hmm. .. so if I buy the remote control can that be wired in and Aux heating coded to work with the electric heaters in the vents at the moment? Or is that to consuming on the power for the vehicle not being running I wander...
