FL 2.8 Sport Remap?
Hi all
I'm thinking of having my 2000 FL 2.8 Sport remapped and wondered if anyone could please point me in the right direction...? Firstly, are there any downsides that I need to consider? Secondly, I'm fairly confused about who I should go to / trust. I live in Hastings, East Sussex and would be willing to travel a reasonable distance. I'm also in South Bucks from time to time. A google search for East Sussex brings up a few companies, can anyone recommend (or otherwise) any of these please? www.crallenandsons.co.uk/car-remapping/ www.ecuremappingsussex.co.uk www.ecuremappingeastsussex.co.uk http://ecu-remapping-sussex.co.uk Any other advice on what remap to go for or who to go to would be much appreciated as I'm a complete newbie in this area! Thanks a lot! |

I would only trust MRC tuning or go overseas to Germany / Netherlands to Amd who worked with Audi or MTM. Have a chat with MRC they will tell you honestly if its worth it.
On a naturally aspired engine sadly very small gains are possible unless you go all out and do cams port & polish, high flow cats, exhaust, etc. Last edited by Goran; 15th February 2017 at 07:43 PM. |

another vote for MRC, I know many folk from up here who travel down to them, but as Goran says give them a call and see what they think they can do first. I am no expert but I always thought gains on NA engines were marginal compared to some of the gains that can be achieved with turbocharged engines

I looked in to this for an A4 which had the same engine - 193bhp standard, supposedly remaps to a shade over 200. Doesn't seem worth the bother to me, unless there is a characteristic of the engine which can be improved, but the A4 drove pretty nicely.
Most of the usual suspects offer maps for it - Revo etc, but £400-odd for ~10hp is not a very good return on investment. |

Not to be too cruel, but if you want higher performance from an A8, bang for buck is on the side of buying a V8 model.
I looked into performance upgrades for my V6 A4 many years ago, and everything pointed to selling it and buying a 1.8T and tuning that. So I bought the S8 instead ;-p

All features as the '01, with the 'S' mode auto shifter. Dodgey rear tint (need to find a way to get rid of that). Family: 2009 Volvo XC90 V8 R Design - has a louder more obnoxious exhaust than the S8, sounds great! Love this thing - Q7 was double the price, and certainly not double the car! Good luck getting ahold of them or getting them to return calls... I've been after them doing my carbon clean on the the S8 but they dont seem to want any business at the moment!
