As said above, the money spent has to be considered running costs or maintenance.

The gearbox is a bonus and will definitely help resale but to recoup all costs is asking a bit much on an insurance write off, in my opinion of course.

Good luck with the sale, you could try putting it on ebay as a classified ad with offers, see what interest it brings
