I just posted in Del's thread about how much I like the Eagle F1s on mine. I accept I'm still learning my car, but I've pushed the tyres in almost all conditions (not driven her yet in the snow) and they've been grippy and predictable. I'm also impressed by their low noise on the motorway, anywhere except the concrete section of the M25, where they howl like wolves at the moon.
I think for my next change, I'll be switching to the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. I can't resist the idea of two different compounds on a tyre! Also, I run Michelins on my Volvo for years and they've served me well. |

D3 S8 with factory 20's & I've had:
Yokohama Advan 2 sets. Michelin Super sports 1 set. Bridgestones 1 set. Pirelli P Zero's 1 set. The Michelin's were by far the worst for wear The Yokohama, Bridgestone and Michelin quickly became noisy (booming on some surfaces) The Pirelli's have been by quite a margin the best of the bunch. They are on the car now and what I'll buy again if I still own the car when they need replacing. BTW Not had the back end breaking away. The biggest issue is understeer, which is something Audi design into their cars to keep us awake (too much mass out in front of the front axle). How the hell do you loose the back end? I only managed that on a beach, with the traction control off and the gearbox in sport mode

The ton of sand in your rear bumper didn't help much either.

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions and extended leather. Ski hatch retrofit. Aftermarket reversing camera. DVB-T and XCarlink now removed as redundant. 2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one! Finally: gone, but not forgotten..... 1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors. e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later) 1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer. And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850! |

When you say pushed, do you mean like proper pushed that its almost scary and adrenaline is flowing like a fuel under high pressure ?? I hate this bit on M25 and I don't understand how this section hasn't been resurfaced yet. Thank you Tony By the way, dual compound ain't that great, at least wasnt for me. As far as I am aware, Toyo Proxes T1 Sport which I bought brand new had soft compound on the inside of the tyre a hard compound on the outside. When I removed them there was absolutely nothing left on the inside but 5mm left on the outside in less than a year.

Also it happens on the roundabouts sometimes. Kind of lost confidence in Pirellis, but I have to say wear is very good, so maybe it is a good trade off ?!?!?
