I know the Sessantas were amazing, but they were superseded, I went through 3 sets in two cars over 4+ years - loved em, haven't tried the Vorti's though.

I've been considering the Quatrac 5's for all year round usage. I ran Quatrac 4s on my cabriolet when I had it and went 2 years with minimal wear, really hot summer driving in Monaco made them squeal a little on hard cornering but in winter they were sublime dispersing water super quickly and even when we went over a mountain pass in switzerland (on our way down to Menaggio) we went through about 3" of snow and had no issues, they seem a good balance for year round usage.

If I was blasting the S8 heavily around bends and B roads I would want more grip but to me, its not that kind of car at what? 2 tonnes?

If you are a spirited driver 99% of the time I can see why ultimate grip rubber would be the way forward.

Like I said, I am watching this with interest and will be good to see which way people go and what their thoughts are.

Looking at winter though - who runs winters and what ones? or summer all year round?

I run winter tyres but typically there has been no challenging conditions as of yet. although they do say summers start performing less well below 7 degrees so there is argument for running them.

I have these on at the mo https://www.pirelli.com/tyres/en-gb/...ero3#/overview

Similar, I use Sottozero Serie II for autumn/winter (on 18's) and well into spring.
They only came off quite recently, just before the forum meet in fact, so I'm now on 20's with MPS4S's.

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions and extended leather. Ski hatch retrofit. Aftermarket reversing camera. DVB-T and XCarlink now removed as redundant.
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!
