great tip, I was wondering how the trim would weather now with the lacquer removed (I was hoping I wouldn't be spending every weekend re-polishing!)

or at worst, a quick whizz with autoglym every time you wash.

great thanks guys - it rained over the w/e and when I got into the car this morning i noticed some 'spotting' on the trim already (less than 48 hrs!) as I haven't had a chance to treat it with anything yet.......I have the autoglymn so will do that until I can get hold of the "Bilt Hamber Autobalm" (which I haven't heard of but will find!)

It's a fantastic polish that not everyone gets on with on paintwork, as it can be a bugger to remove if you leave it on for too long, or spread it on too thickly. But for metal... well I have used it since I polished my trims and they are still spotless
![]() Google it, and have a look on detailing world. The first time I used it on my dark blue TR6 I couldn't believe how brilliant the paintwork came up, but subsequently, I did apply too thickly and got p***ed off with it about a year ago - my fault. Anyway, now I have the S8 and it's problematic trim, I decided to give it another go! http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing...=0&f=&t=438920 Thread that inspired me all that time ago to buy it. HTH

great thanks again
nice thread, I too am now inspired and may have discovered another way to feed the OCD I have developed when it comes to cleaning, polishing and generally tinkering with the S8! |

Use the SRP first as you have been, then apply the BH afterwards - it isn't a polish as such, more a protectant.
