OK - Car went in to have the front suspension control arm with the knackered ball joint replaced yesterday.

Rang this afternoon to see it it was ready and he mentioned that they have just put it back on the ramp to put in the part they had forgotten and it would be ready for 5PM.

So... got the wife to drop me off and the car was outside ready so I went in to pay and discuss what part they had forgotten.
He said that it had been on the ramp all day and when he took it for a drive he heard a knocking noise and realised he had forgotten to put the front control arm in so headed back to do that.

I told him that that it was only booked in to have the control arm replaced so what else had they done.................

They had replaced the steering rack (I had left the 2nd one I had got from A8 Parts in the boot)

I had told them that I couldn't afford to have it changed when they checked it last time so I was shocked to say the least

So, he said he would charge me for the front control arm and when I could afford to pay for the other work for the steering rack change then that would be OK - I should coco

What a day

Nice one mate, that's a bit of a result.

Let's hope the steering rack stays leak and knock free for you.

And staged payments from a garage! Unheard of!

Unheard of, and actually you shouldn't have to pay as they did work you never asked them to do in the first place (unless the law on that is different in englandshire)

Englandshire has laws as you well know as Alex Salmon has said they are all right!

Apart from that a garage that takes staged payments should be cuddled a lot. nice one.
