I can't help any further except that it's hidden well! There's a part number for the trim piece called 'dash panel box', item 2 in the picture and that the cable is only 850mm.

Sorry can't be definitive.

Definitively on my 2009 3G D3, it was in the glove-box on the rear, upper right hand side wall.

It hasn't got one.

The manual says it will be in the glovebox (if it has AMI).

Nowt there.

I intend to stream my Spotify subscription from my mobile to the head unit, as I can do in the Surf.

Turns out I need to lose the CD changer (which I would never use, or the DVD/SD/JukeBox) and replace it with either:

Part 4E0057785F (no longer listed on TPS, so it's ebay etc. - I have already been gifted a BT <> AMI lead)

OR

Go with something like a Dension 500 BT which emulates the changer.

Happy to be given advice re: best choice

Mine had the CD Changer and the DVD player with SD card slots AND the AMI port and they all worked too. No idea why you'd need to lose one of the disc players....

You need to take one of their feeds into the MMI, then either using the Audi part, give it up to an AMI socket on the end of a cable, or with the Dension, emulating the CD changer with a Bluetooth feed.

I thought that a splitter was used so that you can retain the equipment that was already there. That's how it works with my 2G MMI and AMI
