When we first started having gearbox problems with our fleet A8 we left it at our usual workshop.
Their method of repair was to take the car to a gearbox specialist in Preston for guidance. Unfortunately for them they had not realised that all our vehicles are constantly tracked. 106 MPH northbound on the M6 126 MPH southbound on the M6 Not really appropriate at any time, but with a faulty vehicle!!!!! Of course we had words with the workshop owner and removed our custom.

Imprisonment...
Hi Folks,
126 mph. Dangerous in your own car, let alone one someone has borrowed! Borderline suspended sentence imho. Lucky you didn't want to really, really f**k them over... Robert

That's a horrendous lack of respect for someone else's property. It's sickening.

Turbo Tony
Just read this whole thread (all 14 pages of it) and I can honestly say that my eyes were popping out of my head and my heart pounding as I read every post on it...my heart went out to you like a million times!! When I got to the first 'good news' post, I was like "pheeeeew", and then you posted again with further 'not good' news. All in all, I hope you are well, you still own the car, and that it eventually paid off. Just like to take a moment to thank all the forum members for the support and contributions too. My first ever experience of being a forum member was back in the day with the MR2 Owners Club (to which I am still a proud member), and I can relate to Tony in the manner in which the extended support and kind words really do go a long way and makes one feel like they are not alone! Thanks all. PS - My D3 has some gear 'shifting' woes (it seems to keep revving and not changing up), so I shall certainly be able to take some value from all that I have read. much love. Onetwentie.

Re-reading this thread still brings back those horrible memories and I still shudder when I think back to that first call I got from Mackies. I'm happy to report that my car has behaved ever since and still brings a smile to my face every time I hit the start button. Best of luck with your gearbox. I can't prove it but I still have a nagging suspicion that mine really just needed the adaptations reset after the fluid change. |

Wow..... Thanks for reviving this whole thread. Its been a really interesting read, and what a roller coaster ride.
So glad to see you still have your car Tony, well done for hanging in there. As a note to moderators, is there any chance of a section dedicated to "long reads"? Those threads that have a good start (for some unfortunate soul), a good middle and then a conclusion (good or bad) are really interesting and helpful. It's not that I want to be entertained by others misfortune but the information contained within the thread is invaluable. It's also really good to see how things turn out in the end. It's like reading a short story before bed.
