I only just noticed what rSAP was doing to my SIM card - my first thought was my phone had a fault until I realised I was losing the SIM when only in the car. So I've set the car pairing to phone call only with no rSAP and then also paired with the MrVolt device for media. All was good with streaming through the media device until I took a phonecall. The music muted and the MMI took over to handle the call. When the call finished the music came back up on the MMI screen but there was no sound. It seems the MMI is not relinquishing the audio back to the media device after the call finishes.I'll have to investigate further. Another possibility I can explore is to let the media device handle the calls as well - I'd need to wire in the included mic.

Did you disable the Handfree feature of the media streaming device?
Does the music still show as playing or paused on the phone screen?

I have the handsfree part of the device disabled. Media device has been erratic, with my original issue no longer happening and streaming audio is returning after finishing phonecalls. The device does not always autopair when I sit into the car though. I ran a scan and got...

I'm presuming the gateway is wondering what's this new device on the network. Does anyone know what I need to code to get the new device accepted onto the network, or is it that I have the new device in the wrong location on the MOST bus? If I check the Gateway installation list in VCDS, Media Player1 is unchecked in the list...

The current media addresses are listed...
0E-Media Player 1 -- Status: Not registered 0001
0F-Digital Radio -- Status: OK 0000
19-CAN Gateway -- Status: Malfunction 0010
1E-Media Player 2 -- Status: OK 0000
47-Sound System -- Status: OK 0000
56-Radio -- Status: OK 0000

I had the same thing when I fitted an mp3 changer beside my original CD changer in the glovebox. The trick was to tell the second CD changer that it should assume a different network address (I think CANbus not MOSTbus address).
It was to jump two pins on it's connector - one spare pin was shorted to ground. I will try and find it. I am not saying this will fix your issue but is a good place to focus.

I've managed to get the device accepted by the Gateway and onto the network with no faults showing. The only thing I have now in VCDS is that Media Player 1 'Cannot be reached' - but it doesn't throw an error.
The device is working OK although it could be more seamless e.g. I often have to manually start up whatever streaming app I had been previously listening to when returning to the car whereas, with other bluetooth head units, the device will automatically resume the bluetooth stream without any user input. It also doesn't always autoconnect when I get into the car so I have to take out my phone and manually connect. It does switch between stream and USB well, but SDcard seems to takeover completely when inserted, where nothing else can be selected, and often the SDcard itself doesn't play. I haven't tested the aux input and probably will have no need for it anyway as long as the bluetooth is working. Over all I'm happy to have expanded the capabilities of what was originally there.

I got one of these now. First, I plugged it into the DAB radio in the media rack in the boot. The CD Changer then stated "Initialising Device" in the MMI and said this forever. It did not show CD Changer or Tracks either but would play and skip to next track.

I removed it and removed one of the two CD changers in the glovebox and plugged in the streaming device. It worked right away and the sound quality is excellent.

What I had with 2x CD changers was CD 1-6 & 7-12
I was hoping to keep both CD changers and have CD 1-6, 7-12 & 13-18. but this doen't seem possible.

I need to buy one of those cubby holes for the empty CD changer location in the glovebox.

It is early days to comment on pairing issues as I have only used the car twice, but I don't like the way it is permenently on, as unlike the original Audi units, it has no MOST wakeup/diagnostic connection on the electrical side.

You say yours doesn't resume playing when you return to the car, mine always resumes playing Apple Music which I never really use. Even if I was say playing Spotify it will start playing an Audiobook in Apple Music. It is very annoying I would rather it played nothing to be honest.

Interesting...I hadn't thought about installing it in the boot as I'd prefer to be able to connect USB, aux etc from inside the car. The instructions do state that the device must be the last device in the MOST ring. I'm wondering is this where I might be going wrong. Is the last device the Navigation DVD drive, before the gateway - being the first device?
What are the dangers of it being permanently on? Battery drain or keeping the car awake?
