Interesting... I did think a Full Audi History was one of the pre reqs for them retailing a car......

Yes i did Ian , its supposed to have had an indy 1st service and there checking for an invoice..
also its in the workshop now having a service to bring it back inline with audi approved..

i negotiated a 12 month warranty after the original 3 years runs out which has 9 month to go , then another 12 after that,
but now there back pedaling to 12 month only from purchase,

They can't part extend warranty. It comes in years. There is often a deal where you take out Audi finance for the car, and they throw in a second year warranty FOC. Unless the deal is on, it seems there is no way to get two years warranty in one go - I really tried very hard, and wasn't asking for it as a freebie.

So, They have no choice under Audi approved to give you 12 months, and as you have less than 12 months left on that car, they would have to give you the 12 on top of whats remaining regardless.

An additional year is only possible if you finance through them - and - the offer is on at the time.

You can always take the finance, and pay it off before 14 days. I believe this leaves the 2nd year warranty in tact.

However, I'd need some serious convincing that missing its first Main dealer service wouldn't give you major hassle further down the line with warranty claims and future resale......

I think by law, they can't dictate that the service must be done at Audi to make the warranty valid, but they can insist on proof that genuine parts and the correct procedures were used.

Sounds like a load of hassle to me tbh.

thats what she said originally Now the sales manager says just 12 month from date of purchase, im confused.

ive asked for the information on the 1st service ie: who , what mileage etc
no one has got back to me.

Yes, I'd expect the, to have to give you 21 Total.

If it were an older car, that was traded in under extended warranty for example, I think they can cash the balance of that in, then give you a fresh 12, but they can't remove the factory warranty, so would have to put you a full extra 12 on....

Audi Approved is a joke at best, I think the term "Approved" applies to the ridiculous PCP deals they try and flog

They were not happy that I brought a set of vernier calipers to collect my last one, especially as all of the brake disks were so lipped they were below minimums. When I pointed this out to the service manager, he told me that they only needed to do a visual inspection, that they had done so and it had passed. I told them to replace, or keep the car.... they relented!

Disks and pads all round on a Q7 at dealer prices was over £2k, as it wasn't 3 years old it didn't even qualify for fixed price which would have brought it down to £1600

Warranty is from date of purchase..... I got 2 years (took PCP, which lasted ~14 hours), but it was from date of purchase, not balance of factory plus 2 years.

The "Approved Used" warranty isn't as good as factory either, dealers have to jump though approval hoops and it isn't "bumper to bumper".

I told them I wanted 2 years as I'd seen it on the Audi website, they agreed and it was done..... I then realised the offer had ended the month before, so they can do it at any time I think, suspect it costs them though

Happy to concede to folks with more recent experience - Mine was 6 months out of factory warranty when I bought it, so it was a straight 12 months slapped on in that case.

This however, i'm less inclined to concede to - I've had everything from squeaky headlinings to loose subwoofers to faulty towbars all done under extended warranty. I got some resistance from the dealer over the towbar as they struggled with the concept it was factory fitted and not an accessory, but got them to put the claim in (which was rejected because they did a half arsed job) then I rang the Audi warranty direct and got them to approve it...

I'm not sure factory warranty is approved any more swiftly than extended but interested to hear any examples....

I think a supplying dealer is likely going to respond to faults a little more swiftly as the ball is going to land in their court no matter how the warranty conversation goes I guess.

But, depends on the dealer.

And, I've personally had experience of Ipswich cutting corners. They are the cowboys that sold a Q7 with faulty keyless entry. Warranty claim was rejected because the car was sold with faults. Ended up with my local Audi cross charging them for the work which they eventually conceded to, after getting Audi UK involved.

I'd walk away from this car Roberto, it sounds like a heap of bother tbh.
