Looks like an anomaly perhaps related to the testing of the new cable. No sign of any major increases here other than a price cap being raised.

Icelink is a proposed electricity interconnector between Iceland and Great Britain. At 1,000 to 1,200 km (620 to 750 miles), the 800–1,200 MW HVDC link would be the longest sub-sea power interconnector in the world. [1]

The project partners are National Grid plc in the UK, Landsvirkjun, the state-owned generator in Iceland, and Landsnet, the Icelandic Transmission System Operator (TSO). [2]

In 2017, the project was still at the feasibility stage, [2] but, as of 2019, no further progress had been reported. [3]

According to Landsvirkjun, it will take about five years to complete feasibility and other work, and if a decision is made to go ahead, construction and installation would take a further five to six years. [3]

At the 2019 UK General Election 2019, the Democratic Unionist Party included in their manifesto a proposal for the Icelink to make landfall in Northern Ireland.[4]

The situation is strange. Last winter there were record high amounts of water in our reservoirs. And since the end of May, there has been basically no increase.

December 31st, Ringhals shut one reactor off (Ringhals 1), and shut another off August 30th (Ringhals 2). Which only leaves two active reactors left on that power plant.

In addition, Europe now has record high CO2 futures prices. Basically double compared to the past two years.



I read that the natural gas prices are at record levels in Europe. But I believe you will be more familiar with that market than I am.

Symbio Energy went bust today. Bugger. I will now get switched to another supplier at much increased price and there are no good new deals to be had.
