It is actually switched on? The slider on the stalk...... (which is also the "increase speed" function)

Could be the slider switch is faulty, depending which switch signals you're seeing. The button on the end is only for "set" and "reduce speed" functions.

And you don't need to be driving to check the switch operation, at least with full VCDS as your OBD tool.

2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Do you have any error codes? Anything to do with pedals, gearbox, throttle body, missfires or MAF will stop CC from working

Hi All.
So checked with VCDS that all was 'switched on'.
Then watched as I used the switch on stalk.
All good.
However, when you watch closely, there was a 0000 signal between the switching. This could cause the CC to deactivate?

Sprayed contact cleaner in the stalk switch at the same time as switching and pressing all functions...

back to VCDS and did the same switching....hey..well you would not believe....now clean switching with no 0000 signal in between switching.

Road test next...all well..working perfectly.
Many thanks to all.
Cheers.

There is a known issue with the D2 cruise control. The solution is to work the cruise switch vigorously.
The thinking here is that sometimes with underuse the electrical contacts become corroded and switching it on and off repeated;y cleans off the corrosion.
Hopefully a simple no-cost fix.
