I have a problem with the car lurching which could very well be mechanical links to the drivetrain. I've already changed suspension arms and either engine, gearbox, or other drive component mountings feel likely.

That makes sense. Just had a look at D4 diagrams and they got rid of the front torque mount that was used on D3 and D2 so it's probably harder on side mounts without the front mount. And smaller defect on side mounts could show larger impact without front mount. Ideally would get it on 4 post lift, 1 person in car hard on brake, in gear, give it some gas, 2nd person check the mounts under car for excessive movement. Do it in both drive and reverse.

It may be worth paying attention to the right side transmission mount (4H0399152AT) when doing these tests, as that is the only mount that has a superseded part of the five mounts.
