Default MAF sensor

Giving my '8 some love at the moment and want to replace the MAF as it's probably the original, and it had pretty detrimental effects on the running of my old A4s.

Found these on euro carparts:
http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Au...4b280e89a&AFME

Being bosch, should this be identical to the factory fit? Or am I better biting the bullet and paying extra for one direct from audi? Heard a lot of negative comments about cheap copies.

I'm looking for a MAF too, mine is 4 years old, I cleaned it once, but after reading Ben's advice about it potentially causing gearbox trouble I'm going to replace it.

Just rang Audi, they want £137 and thats the price when you give the old one back to them.

Also found this old post from Tyresmoke,
http://www.tyresmoke.net/forum/audi-...rvicing-2.html

Dont hold me to this but it seems the part number is (Bosch) 0280218067 - 077133471K (VAG)

This post on A8parts gives the same part numbers:
http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?p=13056

based on that I found one on this site:

http://www.ignitioncarparts.co.uk/Pa...lue=077133471K

I'm going to drive down there and see if it looks like the one in my car. Plus I'd rather keep the old one too rather than give it back to Audi.

Hmm, Mine does hang in 1st gear when its cold, but only breifly. so it does sound like I need a new maf.

I will pull it out and look at the part number on it when I get a chance.

Having used both a cheap, and mid range ebay one I would go for a genuine one as from experiance anything less lasts less than a year.

Let me know how you get on, Ill will pop my part number up on here once its out.

The eurocarparts one still works out less than audi.

As you say, this looks promising! http://www.ignitioncarparts.co.uk/Pa...PDAF194&s_vid=

Just had a look at its £77, + £20 surcharge, + £19.51 VAT, + £8.95 postage. so £125 total, 105 after the old one goes back from ignitioncarparts

OK - daft question probably - how do you know if it needs replacing? I expect mine is original too, but what impact will it have?

I did a search on the forum, Ben posted some expected values, and mine looked well below those.
I managed to drive around a bit tonight with VCDS plugged in, and logged the MAF readings. The strange thing is it seems to be reading good as the revs go up towards 6000, but at idle and around 1800 revs its much lower then the posts say it should be.
I'm going to try cleaning it tomorrow night with some isopropyl alcohol and a cotton ear bud, and if I have time go for another run and re-plot the results. Sorry about the crap graph I did it in Excel.
(I divided revs by 100 to get them to fit)
Let me know if you want the raw data I can post that too.
