Default Warranty for our A8/S8's

Might be worth investing in if your worried about your gearbox going pop, I have been quoted £266 a year for a 12 month warranty with a claim limit of £3000 which covers the auto gearbox, the most expensive one is £370 which covers ECUs and everything else. If your car is under 12 years old and under 150k miles you can buy it. Thoughts? At £266 if I hadn't just had my gearbox rebuilt I think its kinda a no brainer for you folks still waiting for it to happen. Of course, read the small print but it all seems straightforward...

Amar,

I thought you had an AA Warranty? What happened to that?

The AA warranty is with my breakdown cover and has a max claim limit of £500 with a £25 excess so my gearbox rebuild still cost me over £1k. This one has a claim limit of £3,000 per claim so It wouldn't have cost me hardly anything, maybe £20 excess or something. This warranty works out at 79p a day. Worth thinking about I thought.

50 to 100 quid to add a 4WD system to it as well

Still a decent price.

There is a clause under wear and tear that says if your mileage is at a certain level or more then you will require to contribute a proportion of the cost -
Up to 60,000 miles no contribution required
Up to 70,000 miles 10%
Up to 80,000 miles 20%
Up to 90,000 miles 30%
Up to 100,000 miles 40%
Over 100,000 miles 50%

So if youre already over 100,000 miles then you will be paying 50% towards any wear and tear claim on the warranty

Sometimes insurance is a way of ensuring you have all the expense of a big job, without necessarily having the big job done.
And, should you actually need to claim, will they actually wriggle out of it.
The answer, in case you need it, is, they often do. They have a lot of practice at this and it makes them experts.
How about just bunging the premiums in your bank account and take a chance, after all that's exactly what the insurer is doing and presumably making a profit from it.

So, now its time for warranty renewal - what would you experts recommend? Click4warranty does seem good but wear and tear is also a factor - it would be nice to know so your're not getting ripped off and have a peace of mind - much needed as these are big cars!

Warranty direct

but you need to know your **** and know how to argue.

see posts what i have got out of them so far.

its changed a little bit because of a few arguments but its still well over 2k worth of stuff.

and also with the mileage, pay to have that removed as in they pay 100% parts and labour.

Thanks for the tips. Just got the Range Rover warrantied with them. £50 increase to have the parts and mileage restrictions removed. Sat nav all included too. £870 for the Extracare cover.
