Default AUDI Win at Le Mans!!

I've got to say one of the most exciting and close 24 hour races in years - I would be very tempted to suggest a trip with the 8's to Le Mans next year to see this if anyone is interested!

Here's the summary - Allan Mcnish was in a HUGE crash but walked away with minimal injuries
Allan McNish Le Mans Crash

In front of 250,000, Audi flawlessly won a thrilling 2011 Le Mans 24 in the town of Le Mans, Sarthe in France. Over the 24 hours endurance race, Audi completed over 355 laps around the 13.629 km (8.469 mi) circuit for a total of 4838 km (3006 miles) and finished just 13 seconds ahead of the Peugeot LMP1 squad.

The final run to the checkered flag had the mighty Audi and Peugeot LMP1 teams pitting on the same lap with approximately 35 minutes to go. As the pair reached the start/finish the gap after 23 and a half hours was just 6.4 seconds. To add to the thrilling finish, the weather began to play a role with rain starting to fall during the final moments. The gap would increase with the Audi on fresher tyres, but still remain too close.

Since 2000 Audi has dominated this event with ten victories - 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and now 2011. Porsche still holds the record for most wins by a manufacturer at 16. Their last victory coming in 1998.

An emotional Wolfgang Ullrich talked about the victory saying, "After the two big accidents, we were really down because the performance was very good from the very beginning. We put everything into our lone car, and it worked out well.

Peugeot had a great 24 hour run with their three entries finishing second, third and fourth.

Chevrolet Corvettes captured double class wins at the 2011 24 Hours of LeMans. Corvette Racing clinch GTE-Pro and Larbre Competition won in GTE-Am. It was the 10th anniversary of their first win at Le Mans, and a celebration of Louis Chevrolet - celebrating the 100th year of the Chevrolet brand.

Overall, 28 entries finished the 24 hour event of the 55 that started.

Nice one Audi, I enjoy Le Mans. Can't stand F1, find it dull.

Yesterdays F1 in Canada was an astonishing mixture of dull, dull dull with fantastic action. In fact, one of the best I've watched.
