dont know, I'd rather stick with stock. I picked up the second hand one yesterday for £45.
I also want to replace the caliper carrier, one pin is a bit wobbly. Does anyone know if the first part of a part number matters, ie, is 4D0615425B the same as 447615425B? I read its just the body shape code, what if the same part is used on different cars? |

The 4D0 part number comes up as shared across the A6/S6 range from 98-2005, plus the '8 obviously from 99-03, also the VW Passat from 2001-05.
They're over £150 from what I can tell from ETKA! The other part number comes up with hits for the Audi 100 from 1985-94, 200 from 85-91. A6 from 95-97, A8 from 94-99, Quattro from 80-91, old school S6 from '97 and the V8 from 89-94. |

Wohooo! managed to install new (used) rear caliper, and change both rear discs and pads. And the brakes still work
![]() All I can say is rewinding 10 year old rear calipers is a pig of a job. That first turn until they get going is almost impossible unless you are a body builder. I think it helped to open up the bleed valve to let the fluid out locally, it just wouldnt budge with the bleed valve closed. It doesnt help that you cant hold the caliper properly whilst its still attached to the cables/hoses. When I add up all the tools I had to buy (new torque wrench thats more accurate, etc), plus the discs and pads, the whole job comes to around £250. (Febi discs were only £40 from incarmotorfactors, Bosch pads were only £12 from ebay) Still its very satisfying to do a job yourself. Last edited by Goran; 16th October 2011 at 10:44 AM. |

Well they don't fit, and the handbrake cable connection is in a different place.
I'll happily send them on to you if you want it'll save me sending them back Last edited by Dezzy; 1st November 2011 at 06:45 AM. |
