Default Campaign - Gear Selector Bolt

Dropped the S off at the dealer this morning for the 180 K service. They advised me of a Campaign to replace a Gear Selector Bolt/mechanism.
First time I have heard of this Campaign....

Anybody aware of this Campaign and what it entails.

Thanx in advance.

Yeah, been mentioned elsewhere on here as a couple of us have had it done. It's basically a fault that can prevent you getting the gear selector out of Park if not rectified. Free fix and was in for half a day

Anyone know which models specifically this applies to or is it any D2?
Mine (1998 PF S8) is serviced by an independent and hasn't been near an Audi dealer for several years.....

Try calling a couple of dealers with your reg number.

Mine was initially a "no" because they never had a record of my age related number plate, as the original owner had a private plate on it from new.

OK, will do.
My local dealer has merged into another some miles away; both have had the car (with my private reg on) at various times so hopefully will be able to help.

If they can't search based on reg, give them the VIN to double check

It's not an official recall so doesn't appear on VOSA - it's not safety related as it can only happen when shifting in or out of park so you're stationary.

I think it's fairly recent - mine got done last year after I rang to check if the coil pack recall affects mine (it didn't) but they then quoted this one.

Dealers love recall work - they can bill Audi a small fortune for it so I'd expect them to give the correct answer from a self-interest point of view

Pretty sure it was a facelift only thing.... The fault meant that under some circumstances you could move the gear selector without having the keys in the ignition I think, so must be a problem with the interlock cable from the ignition. I've seen the 'fault' in action but wasnt overly bothered about it.....

My local dealership offered me this free fix, when I purchased the car last August.

I declined the offer though.

I can confirm that my pre-facelift S8 had a recall job done on the selector linkage about 18 months ago when serviced by the local dealer

Mine was done about a year or more ago too not sure if that became irrelevant when they changed the box!
They did it when they were checking for the more recent coil pack recall
