You did make me wonder about mine, which I know is "getting on".
Just checked and it's a Bosch 88Ah "Silver" bought in October 2003!
I think I paid about £30 at Costco for it....

I got new one last year, bought cheapest at local shop that came with 3 year warranty for around £70. They had some cheaper ones with 2 year warranty. Don't remember make or details.

Mine had 2004 on it so maybe yours is close to a change, having said that mine tends to run down more where I'm not using it every single day

I think if I was using the car all the time I would do the same. the final bill came to about £92 so not bad for mine considering. it also makes a difference to cold starting if you keep your car under cover or in a garage of course

Mine has a genuine VAG (Moll) battery, never had any issues with starting, even when left for three weeks without starting. Mine's garaged though.

Just out of interest, are there any issues with throttle body reset after battery power has been interrupted?

You are advised to change the battery within a short time of disconnecting - I did this and all I had to do was re-enter the RNS-C radio code, everything else has worked perfectly. Car is now turning over quicker and starting fine

Resurrecting this post

Just changed my battery for a Bosch bigun' and the car starts great and even my sat nav now works as it should (it was around 300 metres out and thanks to Limoncello for trying to help out ).

I bought it from Halfrauds and included fitting and he whipped the old one out and the new one in within a very short time frame.

Now the issue - it feels like it is in limp mode
When idling, it rocks the whole car and when you drive and put your foot down it really struggles to surge forward, even when dropping down a gear or two....

Any suggestions will be greatly received as off on holiday on Friday and would prefer it to work correctly

Cheers in advance

I suggest looking checking for fault codes in ECU and possibly do basic setting. It should self adapt after power being disconnected but it might take a while. I always do basic setting myself after disconnecting battery.

Or it could be something not related to battery change.

VCDS scan should give should show if something is wrong.
