Oo, that does look awesome, I re-justify my statements about its' looks, it's a very VERY fetching design - no doubt!

Excellent choice on the extra's - they'd have been mine too. Is that Quartz-grey? That's my favourite 8 colour (which I couldn't get as I wanted / could only afford used).

Which tuning box did you go for - is it a remap - or one that intercepts the fuel injection manifold?

The 8 sticks out much further than the A4, I'm quite surprised. I still question what's happened to the boot space though, have they put it in the back for passenger leg-room?? The D4 boot seems MUCH smaller than the D3.

I'll check that thread now

Anyone recommend a quality detailer in the Telford / Shrops area?

The A7 is Daytona Grey which is a tad darker than Quartz, although I did look at that colour at the time of ordering also

The tuning box is a plug in one rather than a remap, Racechip Pro and I went for the optional remote control to activate and de-activate it

From chatting to the Audi guy at audis in the park, all the electronic boxes for the D4 are on the back of the seat instead of under the carpets inside the car

Spot on PsYcHe!

Visually, you loose about the depth of the rear parcel shelf in space.

Hey all - received another, more genuine, humble apology for the D4 cancellation plus my deposit & the £100 for my costs - so that's an end to that story!

Future HD nav system owners - at least in the D4; paid the new dealer to upgrade the maps - checked'em after delivery - no new maps. After serveral lengthy discussions where the dealer insisted that they had installed them, turned out that they had only authenticated them - by adding the map codes & not known to have pre-ordered "workshop equipment" to install the mapping data. I received yet another apology and am still waiting to get my maps installed!

Richard - got DVLA letter today to say I'm no longer the owner of my former D3 so you should have the logbook back by now....sniff sniff! Guess you're still recovering from taxing it! I was well hacked off when the DVLA back-dated the tax bands to cover cars in the past!

By the way, the spare removable tow-bar key is in the spare wheel fastener - there's a small stowage tube in the screw-down wheel fastener thing.

I replaced the door sill covers on that car - still have the old ones in the shed - not sure if they're any use but let me knowmif you have an emergency.

Also have a D3 pre-facelift bonnet!! I must see if that's any use to anyone on eBay.

Log book arrived the other day, need to go down the post office and tax it as I don't have the letter from the DVLA.. But yes, did realise that it was fairly expensive to tax

Good to know where the key is.. would probably be going spare in a few weeks when I tried to fit the bike carrier to it.

And glad your D4 debacle is nearly sorted... Still enjoying the car?

You can tax it online once you've got the logbook I think?

Yes, still enjoying the car, missing the odd thing on the old, the most annoying thing is auto-close - wife & I are forever not closing the door fully - we've been trained by your car to close the doors gently!

Otherwise, it's lovely. It's quite shocking its' acceleration sometimes, I nipped out to Wrexham to collect my iPad (as Apple weren't going to ship for another few weeks) - more an excuse to go on a longer drive - its incredible sometimes. I really don't understand why peeps buy the W12 or S8 - If I could afford new, I'd spec up the v8tdi; leaving aside the fuel savings, you'd forever be in the petrol station with the v10 & W12.

Going to test it as a tow-car this weekend, have booked Friday & Monday off - so, will be on a shortish trip up the M6 to see how it fares.

Briefly hooked the car up to the van to test if the dealer had fitted and wired the tow-bar up properly (issues such as reverse park sensors still go off when reverse selected if not coded properly etc) but they'd done a neat job. The car now detects that it's towing and puts up (a revised) pic of a trailer attached on the MMI screen. On the D3, I used to have to set "Towing Mode" manually. I was also glad to see that the reverse park camera still worked - was a little concerned that Audi might code that as off when reverse selected given that it knew it was towing - but it helps reversing up to the tailor and getting the bar aligned with the van / trailer etc.

It's certainly more economical - I've not driven this tank economically and it fared quite well indeed but I neglected to reset the trip counter and did 100 miles before I realised. I think it had done 350+ miles and still had 30 litres left (as it took nearly 60 to refill it).
