FL = Facelift. Easiest way to tell externally is to look at the back / front bumpers, facelift cars have a chrome strip that runs around the back bumper, and under the headlights at the front. More subtle, the prefacelift has smaller door handles on all four doors with a key hole on the passenger side, the facelift has longer door handles and no key on the passenger side. Internally, the facelift has different design switches in the centre console and different design armrests.

From the outside the FL has more chrome, especially under the headlights (see the picture at the top of the forum) and fogs in the lower bumper, plus more curved/flush door handles.
Wheels will also probably be different; S8 PF should have 6-spoke 18" original "straight-arm" Avus wheels with the simple "four rings" domed centre cap, whereas the FL has the "splayed-end" arm design that at a glance might look the same but also has a multicolour concentric-ring dished centre-cap with smaller Audi logo.

Brian's car has no chrome, very rare factory option, check his signature.
